Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 (F1) 2022 World Championship on Sunday afternoon, 09 October. The championship was held from 7 to 9 October 2022 at the Japanese Grand Prix in Japan.
The Redbull driver finished in first place after beating Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc who came in second and third position of the driver standings.
Leclerc was penalized for cutting the final chicane on the final lap thus allowing Verstappen to win the race.
As per the statement released by the two time champion, “Thank you to the entire team, everybody worked tirelessly to get here and this is the ultimate reward.”
The United States Grand Prix is up next from 21 to 23 October 2022.
