Naomi Osaka Thanks Her Ancestors For US Open Victory

22 year old tennis star Naomi Osaka won her second US Open title (and third Grand Slam title) in three years on Saturday when she beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6 6-3 6-3. This victory cemented Osaka’s status as the sports leading lady.

Throughout the tournament Osaka supported the Black Lives Matter movement by wearing black face masks with the names of black America victims of racial injustice and police brutality.

Following her win, Osaka took to social media to share a tweet thanking her ancestors for her victory.

Congratulations to this young sporting queen and kudos to her for using her voice and influence to speak up on racism.
