Mduduzi Shabalala and Thapelo Maseko of Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport United respectively, have had a good start to their 2022/23 DSTV Premiership season. The 18 year olds scored their first senior team goals. Shabalala scored his first senior team goal for AmaKhosi last night when they beat Maritzburg United 3-0 at a packed FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Shabalala came in as a substitute in the 86th minute and managed to slot one in the dying minutes of the game.
You couldn’t miss the smile on Arthur Zwane, Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach when the youngster scored. Coach Zwane had previously coached Shabalala in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) were he was the head coach for the Kaizer Chiefs reserve team.
It was the first senior team goal for Shabalala and the first three points for Coach Zwane since taking over as head coach for the Glamor Boys in the 2022/23 DSTV Premiership season.
Maseko scored his first professional goal against AmaZulu Football Club on 10 August 2022 at Moses Mabhida stadium, Durban.
The teenager scored in the 56th minute of the game, it being the only goal scored by the away team losing to AmaZulu 2-1. The first loss for Matsatsantsa since the start of the new season.
