Orlando Pirates announced on Monday, 18 July 2022 that Happy Jele’s contract will not be renewed after spending 16 years with the team.
Jele joined Ezimnyama ngenkani in 2006 from Walter Stars and was the current captain of the team having played more than 400 games to date.
As per the statement released by the club, “Happy is a special character who has answered every call the club has made of him throughout the years which is why he has a future at the club beyond his playing days.”
Jele was offered a non-playing position in the club, but he opted to turn it down as he still wants to play football and is not ready yet to hang his boots.
The 35-year-old thanked the team for all they have done for him in the past 16 years and wished the club all the best in the upcoming 2022/23 season in a statement he released.
