DSTV Premiership Weekend Roundup

The 2022/2023 DSTV Premiership has started off on a rather surprising foot with teams that usually occupy the top of the log table not at the top.

AmaZulu are currently at the top of the table with 10 points after 4 games played. TS Galaxy is currently number two with 8 points after 4 games played. Orlando Pirates is currently number three with 8 points after 5 games played.

On Friday, 19 August, Moroka Swallows hosted AmaZulu FC at Dobsonville Stadium in Gauteng. The visiting side caused an upset when they won 3-2 beating the Dube Birds at Home.

Saturday promised to be a blockbuster Saturday with five games scheduled.  Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy played a goalless draw at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The results of the game between Sekhukhune United and Mamelodi Sundowns shocked football fans as Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Babina Noko. It was expected that Downs would win this game and close the gap between them and the newly promoted top of the log table Richard’s Bay Football Club.

The Cape Derby also ended with a 1-1 score with both teams Cape Town City FC and Stellenbosch  struggling to win all three points  at Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town.

Kaizer Chiefs beat top of the log table, Richards Bay FC 1-0 in a sold out Moses Mabhida Stadium last night. Another game that was played simultaneously with the Chiefs vs Richard’s Bay game is the game between Maritzburg United and ChippaUnited, the home team managed to win 2-1 against the Chilli Boys at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.

Two games played today, 21 August, first up, Royal AM hosted Marumo Gallants at the Chatsworth Stadium in Chatsworth and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The last game between Supersport United and  Orlando Pirates ended in a goalless draw at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
