2022/23 DSTV Premiership Weekend Wrap Up

The 2022/23 DSTV Premiership started off on a surprising note with struggling Supersport United beating MamelodiSundowns 2-1 on Friday evening, 02 September at LucasMasterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Supersport United dominated the treble champions for the entire game courtesy of goals from Thapelo Maseko and Bradley Grobler in the 9th and 46 minute respectively.

The away team got a consolation goal by AbubekerNasser in the dying minutes of the game.

On Saturday 03 September there were five games. DSTV Premiership newbies Richards Bay FC won 2-1 against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

Golden Arrows FC won 3-2 against Chippa United in a closely contested game at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

Royal AM managed to win 2-1 against Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Kaizer Chiefs played AmaZulu United to a goalless goal at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The last game of Saturday produced the only goal that was the deciding factor, Cape Town City FC beat TS Galaxy at home, Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

On Sunday, 4 September, there two games, MarumoGallants FC and Swallows FC played to a one all draw at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Maritzburg United won 1-0 against Orlando Pirates due to a penalty converted by Amadou Soukouna in the 80th minute of the game.

Royal AM are currently at the top of the log standings with 13 points after 7 games played. AmaZulu is in the second position with 11 points after 6 games played and Orlando Pirates is in third position with 11 points after 7 games played.
