[Winners Full List]: Messi Crowned The FIFA Best Player of 2023

2022 World Cup winner and 2023 Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi has been crowned as the FIFA Best player of 2023. It goes without saying that Messi has had and still continues to have an outstanding career but surely 2022-2024 will go down in history as one of his most memorable years.

Winning the FIFA World Cup was the cherry on top he wanted for his marvellous career and all other accolades that follow will never come close to that. However, since leading Argentina to World Cup victory in December 2022, Messi has gone on to win a record 8th Ballon D’Or and now he’s been voted as the FIFA Best player of 2023.

  • Lionel Messi won a tie-breaker with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland
  • Pep Guardiola won the Best Manager award for 2023 after City’s treble-winning run
  • Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati won the Best Women’s Player Award

Leo was however not in attendance, as training just resumed at Inter Miami. This is now Messi’s 8th FIFA Best Award.

The 36-year-old was also named in the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World XI, alongside his fellow nominees in Haaland and Mbappe. Messi has consistently been named in the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World XI for 17 consecutive years!
