[Weekly Wheels]: Mini John Cooper Works 3-Door Hatch

The new Mini John Cooper Works 3-Door Hatch takes over this weeks, weekly wheels category. It is a small car that packs a lot of power, and it appeals to young drivers who have a passion for speed.

The car still has the same exterior design from previous generation models. However, the only difference is that Mini made slight design enhancements that give the car a more modern and updated look.

If you are one of those drivers that like to have an uninterrupted view of scenic roads that you travel on, then the convertible version of the Mini John Cooper Works 3-Door will best suit your needs.

The Mini John Cooper Works 3-Door is powered by a small Twin Turbo charged 2.0 in-line 4-cylinder engine. It produces 170 kW of power, and 320 Nm of torque which accelerates the car from 0- 100Km/h in just 6.8 seconds.

It has an 8 speed Sports automatic transmission, and it consumes 6.3 litres of fuel per 100 Kms. It also comes with a 5 year / 100 000 km warranty.

The Mini John Cooper Works 3-Door has bigger twin exhaust tips, and John Cooper Works Badges both inside and outside of the car. It also has a John Cooper Works front and roof spoilers to help keep the car grounded on the road at high speed .

When you step inside the cabin of the car, you are met with ambient lights that set the mood inside the cabin. For instance, if you switch the car into sports mode, the ambient lights will change into a red colour, and the ambient lights will also function as a rev count. The interior of the car has John Cooper Works sports seats with various leather colour and tone options.

The Mini Cooper brand has been doing well within the South African car market, and the brand just keeps on getting better each time.

*Fun Fact: Did you notice that the tail lights of most modern Mini Coopers have a British flag design incorporated within them. Take a close at the taillights the next time you spot a Mini Cooper on the street. The British flag was placed on the taillights of Mini Coopers to honour the car’s British heritage, since it is originally from Great Britain.
