The New Mercedes-AMG A45 S deserves this week’s, weekly wheels category. Mercedes fused performance and luxury, into a small and yet powerful car with this new generation A45 S hatchback.
German car manufacturer Mercedes, completely redesigned the new generation A445 S AMG. It now has a front end that looks similar to that of the Mercedes GT, and an AMG Aerodynamic kit, which gives the car a wider and aggressive look.
When you step inside the car, the first thing you will notice is the AMG Performance seats, which give you a hint of what the car is capable of in terms of performance. The most attractive part of the interior, is the modern dashboard. Mercedes combined the infotainment display screen with the digital cockpit, which gives you a futuristic feel. The ambient lighting in the cabin as well adds a sense of luxury into the cabin.
In terms of power output, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S is driven by a powerful 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It produces about 310 kW of power, and 500Nm of torque. The AMG A45 S accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, all the to its maximum speed of 250 km/h. This makes the Mercedes-AMG A45 S the fastest hot hatch in South Africa at the moment. It outruns the Golf 8R, and the Audi RS3, which are its toughest competitors.
Despite the car being the fastest against its competitors, it is a bit overpriced. The starting price for this car is R1 256 243, and if you add every optional extra available, you might have to pay R1 420 853. Which seems a bit too much, considering the fact that it is a small car.
*Fun Fact: Did you know that AMG stands for AufrechtMelcher GroBaspach. The first to words are the surnames of the two founders, and the last word GroBaspach is a city in Germany, where Aufrecht was born.
