US authorities issue arrest warrants for Mel and Peet Vijoen

Former reality TV couple Mel and Peet Viljoen will be arrested should they attempt to enter the USA again.

US authorities issued bench warrants for Mel and Peet after they failed to appear in court. This is a type of warrant issued directly by a judge authorising law enforcement agencies to arrest a suspect who typically fails to appear in court.

The couple was arrested for shoplifting in Florida and were deported from the US. Following their release, they were allowed to return back to South Africa. The warrants put an end to their case unless they re-enter the United States.

In March 2026, Mel and Peet were arrested for allegedly shoplifting groceries valued at over $5200 (R82 127).
