Top 5 Skincare Trends Set To Explode in 2023

If you’re looking for skincare trends to follow in 2023, you have come to the right place. Natasha Davel, Brand Manager at Fundamentals Skincare rounded up some of the biggest emerging trends revealing that the overarching thing that skincare lovers will be looking for next year is – products and treatments that do more. Gone the days when we use our entire vanity in a 10-step skincare routine. With busy schedules and constantly being on-the-go, people need longer-lasting products that leave them feeling healthier. From strength-building ingredients to holistic wellness, and all of the below. Here is what you need to keep your eye on:

  1. Multi-use products – this is an emerging trend because people need products that go above and beyond, products that take up less space and products that are less time-consuming but just as potent in healing and protecting the skin –as more people look to a simplified yet effective skincare routines.
  2. Skin Cycling – Buzzword alert, when it comes to caring for your skin, more isn’t always better. We believe in skin fundamentals. You don’t need to have a 10-step skincare routine, all you need are the fundamentals on repeat. Instead of piling more products on top of each other, skin cycling encourages the strategic use of products that actually complement each other with rest days in between.
  3. Hybrid products – a trend that came to light in 2022 is set to only expand further in 2023. Skincare and makeup hybrid products will be ever so popular in the coming months with people looking to cut down the layering of too many skincare and makeup products. We have already seen this with SPF in makeup and lip oils instead of lip gloss, and serums in foundations.
  4. Skin Barrier – with time and access to an unlimited amount of skincare education, people have come to understand their skin barrier, its function and how to protect it. In 2023 we predict more focus on this healthy, plump and hydrated looking skin with the expectation on skincare products to be clean, well formulated and effective.
  5. Active ingredients – when it comes to actives, leading the way in skincare for 2023 is Peptides for its powerful ability to strengthen and rebuild damaged skin. In addition, Linoleic acid, also known as vitamin F, is essential to supporting your epidermal barrier. It helps skin retain water and stay moisturized for longer.

Tik Tok has played a very influential role in providing the latest skincare trends and tips since its rise to success in 2021 and 2022. However, some people may find keeping up with these trends quite overwhelming and will rather be looking to purchase products that do at least two or more from the above list. The focus being on affordability. multi-use and long lasting as well as effective formulations that have the correct actives proven to work – to create a minimalist routine, customised to their specific skin type and concerns.
