South African Love and Hip Hop star Leslie “Da L.E.S” Mampe Jr. has been hospitalised after suffering a stroke on Friday the 26th of July 2024. According to reports, the rapper was supposed to celebrate his 39th birthday on the same day.
His family made an official statement on his Instagram handle which reads, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Da L.E.S will unfortunately not be in attendance at his birthday celebration this evening. Thank you for understanding.” This announcement came after the rapper failed to appear at his birthday party scheduled at Louis night club in Rosebank.
Da L.E.S is in a stable condition at the moment and his family has requested that the public remain calm and show him their continuous support. The family said in another statement, “Whilst he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones, and his family call on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period.” The family has also promised to keep everyone updated on Da L.E.S’ condition where need be.
Da L.E.S released his well celebrated 9th solo album 313 last year November and still has a few shows lined-up for the album promotion. He rose to fame in 2006 with an outstanding performance in the song, “What’s with da attitude” alongside former Jozi group members Bongani Fassie and Ishmael Morabe. In 2008, Da L.E.S served Hip Hop fans around Africa with his highly recognised single “Tippy Toes” which was a game changer in Showbiz.
