Soccer Player Shaune Mogaila Granted R20 000 Bail

Sekhukhune United soccer player Shaune Mogaila was granted bail of R20000 without any conditions on Friday at the Tembisa magistrates court.

This comes after he fled the scene of the accident which left a 9 year old child dead, her mother in a coma and a 13 year old passenger in a critical condition. Mogaila later handed himself in at the Rabie Ridge police station in Tembisa. Read full story HERE

The family of the deceased expressed their disappointment after the soccer star was granted bail.

“I lost my niece and two people are in critical condition. I saw his team players happy when the magistrate announced that. The law in South Africa isn’t fair; it favours those who have money. Those who are poor like us don’t get that advantage,” said the angry uncle.

According to the family, the mother of the deceased is still unconscious and unaware that her child has passed away.

The 29-year-old has been charged with culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene of an accident and is expected to return to court on the 4th of February 2024.
