Singer Zahara Has Passed Away Aged 36

South African singer Zahara, real name Bulelwa Mkutukana has passed away at the age of 36. The cause of her death is yet to be publicly revealed.

The “Loliwe” hit maker was hospitalised last month for what was initially reported as a “sudden condition”. However, it was later discovered she allegedly suffered from a liver illness. According to multiple reports, doctors then moved her to the ICU after it was discovered that her case was much more serious.

However, according to some of her friends, Zahara was in high spirits just days ago and certain that she would make a full recovery.

News of her passing took many of her fans by surprise, with many mourning her death by sharing some of their fondest memories and the impact of her music.

Zahara was born in the Phumlani informal settlement, outside East London. She started singing at the age of six in her school and church choirs.

Zahara released her debut Loliwe in 2011, which went double platinum in less than two weeks. She released five albums altogether. She has also won multiple awards, including 17 SAMAs and three Metro FM awards.
