Following a 6 year hiatus from music, Rihanna is back! The billionaire entrepreneur/entertainer has released a new song titled “Lift Me Up” which features as the lead single from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film soundtrack album.
The song was co-written by Nigerian award winning artist & rising star Tems to honour the late Chadwick Boseman who played the character of “T’Challa/Black Panther”. Chadwick lost his fight against colon cancer and passed away in August 2020.
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.” – Tems
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” hits theatres across the world and in South Africa on Friday 11th November.
