It has been six months since South African rapper, producer and businessman Kiernan Forbes famously known as AKA was shot and killed outside a restaurant in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Kiernan was gunned down with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane on the 10th of February 2023. Tebello was known as AKA’s former manager and described by those close to them as a true friend.
Kiernan’s parents Lynn and Tony Forbes have been grieving the loss of their son ever since he was killed and they continue to honor his memory and legacy through his work. Kiernan’s parents took to social media to share their love for the late SA Hip-Hop icon.

“To us Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was a son, a brother, grandson, cousin, friend and most importantly a father to his beloved daughter Kairo. To many he was AKA, Supa Mega, Bhova and many other names of affection his legion of fans called him by, our son was loved and gave love in return.”
Lynn Forbes shared a heartbreaking message on her Instagram sharing her grief and journey of loss, she shared how she felt after her son’s death, which touched the hearts of many, including his supportive fans.
“There is just a big hole in my chest, without space even for myself, grief is not something you can get over, it never ends” she wrote.
People filled her comment section with love and words of encouragement, wishing her God-speed in her journey of healing.
Kiernan shares an eight year old daughter with DJ Zinhle. Before his passing Kiernan was in a relationship with Zimbabwean born/SA based rapper, Nadia Nakai.
