South African Music Awards nominee, Lucille Slade, The Kimberley Diamond, celebrates her hometown with “Die Y” music video, a love letter to Kimberley, its culture and the people who continue to make the city shine.
The song blends Lucille’s signature sound with Kwati, including the intro from Sip ‘n Kwati, giving listeners an authentic connection to her hometown while remaining universal enough to invite anyone into the story of Kimberley.
The music video showcases Kimberley Diamonds across different industries, including Thebe Magugu, Unathi Batyashe of SABC News, and Boipelo Mooketsi of 5FM, a Basadi in Music Award winner for Best Radio Presenter.
“Die Y” music video celebrates what it means to be a Kimberley Diamond, not only because of the city’s diamond history, but because of the excellence of the people it produces.
Through “Die Y,” Lucille shines a light on the talent, culture and excellence that comes from Kimberley, reminding audiences that some of the diamonds they already know may have Kimberley roots. You see the 053 Kimberley code all over the video and hear it in the song.
The “Die Y” music video premieres this Friday, August 21st on Youtube at 9AM.
