The BET awards nominees were recently announced on Thursday, 08 June 2023 and African is well represented with several artists from the continent making the list of nominees.
The awards will take place on the 26th of June and streamed live online as there will be no in person attendance for the public, only nominees and invited guests will be hosted.
South African born Hip Hop artist, Ntokozo Mdluli, professionally known as K.O, scored himself a nomination in the Best International Act.
Another talented African artist from Swaziland, Lungelihle Zwane, better-known as Uncle Waffles, is also nominated in the Best International Act category.

Paballo Basetsana Mothapo, known on stage as Pabi Cooper, from South Africa, is nominated in the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act category.

Nigeria’s very own superstar, Burna Boy bagged a nomination in the Best International Act category.
Ayra Starr, also from Nigeria, known as Onyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, is nominated for Best International Act. Also representing Nigeria, is Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade. He is nominated under Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act.
Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie, professionally known as Camidoh, from Ghana, is also nominated for Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act.
All the way from Cameroon, is Libianca Kenzonkinboum Fonji, known on stage as Libianca, is nominated for Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act.
Africa is definitely well represented in the BET awards, with this list of nominees from various parts of Africa.
The artists took to social media to share their excitement with their fans.
“Grateful PS: No voting option, please slide me your prayers and blessings.”, says K.O on Twitter.
“Proud to announce that I am nominated for the BET Awards.”, Says Pabi Cooper on Instagram.
“This is crazy, thank you, so much.” Said Uncle Waffles on Instagram.
“Big up to Uncle Waffles for securing a BET Award nomination.”, says @ChromeDaCesar, who is a fan of Uncle Waffles.
