Former MC Alger coach Rhulani Mokwena was arrested yesterday in Algeria for allegedly violating the country’s currency regulations.
39 year old Mokwena was reportedly stopped by customs officials at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers amid allegations of attempting to leave the country with undeclared foreign currency.
He claims he was unaware of the foreign currency law. With the help of the South African embassy, Mokwena received consular assistance and has since been released from custody.
Mokwena parted with the Algerian champions just eight months into his contract.
