John Cena revealed that he will be hanging up his wrestling boots in 2024, making the end of his illustrious professional wrestling career.
The WWE superstar made the surprise announcement at the Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, July 6.
The 47-year-old made his WWE debut in 2002. “This farewell does not end tonight… It is filled with opportunity”, said Cena.

“Thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for many years. Thank you so much always for your voice because it’s loud, and your honesty, because it’s beautifully brutal.”
John Cena has also made a mark in the film industry, showcasing his versatility as an actor. According to Sky News, his notable roles include: The 2015 comedy hit Train-wreck, starring alongside Amy Schumer, 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, based on the DC Comics series, alongside Margot Robbie, lastly, he featured in the upcoming spy action comedy Argylle, directed by Mattew Vaughn. These films demonstrate Cena’s ability to seamlessly transition between the wrestling ring and the big screen.
As part of his retirement tour, John Cena has revealed his intentions to go out with a bang in 2025. He will throw his final punches in the Royal Rumble, battle it out in his last Elimination Chamber, and make a triumphant exit at Wrestle Mania, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.
