FIFA has announced the list of nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024, which will recognise the stars of the year in men’s and women’s football at club and international level. Voting is now possible in a number of award categories on FIFA.com, according to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association in a statement. This year, fans will be able to vote for the winners of The Best FIFA Football Player of the Year Award, The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year Award, The Best FIFA Coach of the Year Award for Men’s Football and The Best FIFA Coach of the Year Award for Women’s Football.
Also for The Best FIFA Goalkeeper, the votes of the fans will carry the same weight as those of the current captains and coaches of the men’s and women’s national teams, as well as those of the media representatives. On this occasion, the fans will exclusively choose the winner of the FIFA Fans’ Choice Award, while a panel of experts will select the recipient of the FIFA Fair Play Award.
The winners of the new Marta Award and the FIFA Puskás Award will be chosen by fans and also by a FIFA Legends panel whose vote will carry the same weight, but the novelty of this year’s edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards is that fans will have the opportunity to participate in the selection of The Best FIFA Men’s XI and The Best FIFA Women’s XI.
Fans will be able to choose their players from a list of 77 nominees (22 defenders, 22 midfielders and 22 forwards plus 11 goalkeepers) and place them in order to form their team. The votes of the fans will be worth the same as those of a panel of experts. The FIFA Puskás Award will be presented to the scorer of the best goal in men’s football regardless of championship or nationality. For the first time, the FIFA Marta Award, named after the Brazilian legend, will be presented to the best goal in any women’s league in the world.
The deadline for voting on FIFA.com is 23:59 (CET) on Tuesday 10th December and the rules for all awards are available on the FIFA Digital Hub.
