DJ Zinhle is set to mark her 20-year career in the entertainment industry with her first-ever inaugural music and lifestyle event Zee Nation Fest, scheduled for 9 August at the Nasrec Expo Centre. The event, which coincides with Women’s Day, promises to highlight the evolution and empowerment of women in the industry with performances from notable female artists like DBN Gogo, Lerato Kganyago, Nadia Nakai, and many others.
Reflecting on her career, DJ Zinhle says, “I’ve always been shy to celebrate my achievements, but celebrating 20 years in the industry gave me the courage to acknowledge that I have done a lot and it’s worth celebrating.”
The festival lineup features her husband, Mörda (Murdah Bongz), Oskido, Big Zulu, Soweto Gospel Choir, DBN Gogo, Nkosazana Daughter, Focalistic, Cassper Nyovest, Lerato Kganyago, Nadia Nakai, Lamiez Holworthy, DJ Tira, Tamara Dey, Kwesta, Young Stunna, Lady Du, Pabi Cooper and many more. “This is like coming full circle for me, especially because I started in an industry that was so male dominated. Now, you can see how much the female DJ industry has evolved in the last 20 years,” Zinhle emphasised.

In addition to Zee Nation Fest, Zinhle’s DStv viewers can look forward to the fourth season of her reality show, DJ Zinhle: Bossing Up, on Saturday, 20 July on BETchannel 129. The new season will intertwine her professional and personal life, offering an authentic glimpse into her journey. Zinhle adds, “This season, the big thread is 20 years of DJ Zinhle, and viewers will see me weaving around that in terms of my children, marriage, and family.”
While looking forward to her upcoming event, Zinhle is also preparing for her highly anticipated wedding with Mörda and contemplating her eventual retirement from the music industry. “Next year, I have to have my wedding day. It has to happen,” she says, “I’m starting to plan my retirement, especially from the music industry. It’s not going to be now, but it’s a plan I had for five years.”
Zinhle decided to have a wedding celebration after reflecting on the courage it took to organise Zee Nation Fest, as it encouraged her to be confident in celebrating herself. Zinhle said, “I’ve always told my friends that I’ll never have a wedding day, but after these things and how brave I’ve had to be to do this event, I’m thinking, let’s do the wedding.”
DJ Zinhle’s story is one of resilience, evolution, and empowerment, celebrating a remarkable career while looking forward to new beginnings.
