Daniel Ricciardo set to leave McLaren end of 2022 season

McLaren announced today, 24 August that Daniel Ricciardo is set to leave McLaren at the end of the 2022 season due to a mutual agreement to terminate Ricciardo’s contract. Reasons for termination have not been stated.

“It’s been privilege to be part of the McLaren racing family for the last two seasons but following several months of discussions with Zak and Andreas we have decided to terminate my contract with the team early and agree mutually part ways at the end of this season,” said Ricciardo through a statement released by McLaren.

The Australian still had a year left on his contract after joining McLaren in 2021 having signed a 3 year contract.

The announcement comes a month after Ricciardoreleased a statement on 13 July 2022 rubbishing claims of him leaving McLaren and Formula One (F1).
