Could the New Kia Carnival be a Better Alternative from The Mercedes V-Class?

The new KIA Carnival is starting to become more popular on South African roads, since it was first introduced in South Africa back in 2022. From a consumer perspective, could it be a better option compared to the Mercedes Benz V-Class?

Price:

The Kia Carnival price starts from R 869 995 with their entry level model, to R 1 094 995 for the full spec model.

The V-Class on the other hand starts from R1 308 403 to R 2 286 303 for the full spec model.

Vehicle price plays a very crucial role within the South African car market, as consumers want value for their money. Therefore, in terms of pricing, the Kia Carnival takes the win against the V-Class.

Practicality:

Both vehicles are nearly the same size and they both have a very spacious interior. The Kia Carnival is available as a 7-seater or an 8-seater. The Mercedes V-Class on the other hand is available as a 4seater, 6-seater, or 7seater.Both vehicles have electric sliding doors, and roof rack rails for those who will be putting their extra luggage on the car’s roof top.

Features:

The interior on both cars gives the customer a taste of luxury, and it all boils down to preference as a customer in terms of choosing between the two brands. The Kia Carnival has a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, along with a wireless charging tray bin, and 3 USB charging ports. On the 8-seater model, the 2nd row seats can be turned to face the 3rd row seats. The Kia Carnival also has a double sunroof.

The V-Class has a high resolution 10.25-inch infotainment screen, which can also be operated via voice control. It also has a separately opening rear window which makes it easier to load luggage in tight parking spots. The V-Class has ambient lighting and the seats can also be arranged to face each other. On higher spec models, the V-Class has illuminated tables on the backrest of the front seats, the seats also have a massage, and leg rest recline options. In terms of available features, the V-class wins against the Kia Carnival.

Performance:

The entry level Kia Carnival has a 2.2 litre 4-cylinderengine that produces 440 Nm of torque and 147 kW of power. It has a maximum speed of 190 Km/h and it has a combined fuel consumption of 10.6l/ 100Km, with a 72-litrefuel tank capacity.

The entry level V220d has a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 120 kW of power and 380 Nm of Torque. It has a top speed of 195 Km/h and an average fuel consumption of 7.1l/ 100 Km/h, with a 70-litre fuel tank capacity.

After careful consideration, both cars seem to offer nearly the same things a customer wants in a vehicle that large in size. Now, is the Kia Carnival a better alternative from the V-Class?

Well, it all comes down to what do you want as a consumer. If You want a spacious vehicle, with a luxurious interior and multiple seats at a very affordable price, the Kia Carnival is the best option for you.

For those that seek more features from a car that size, and money is not an obstacle, then the V-Class is the best buy, as it has more to offer in terms of features. Otherwise, apart from the extra features available on the V-Class, both vehicles offer same the value for vehicles their size.
