The family of Tshegofatso Pule have finally received the closure they needed following the brutal murder of their loved one and her unborn baby in 2020.
The mastermind behind the murder of Tshegofatso Pule and their unborn child Ntuthuko Shoba was today sentenced to life in prison.
Handing down the sentence Acting Judge Stuart Wilson said, “For all these reasons Mr Shoba I’m enjoined by the statute to apply the ordinary sentence for a crime of this nature. You will spend the rest of your natural life in prison unless the parol authorities consider you fit for release in the fullness of time”.
In 2020, the 33 year old planned, arranged and hired hitman Muzikayise Malephane to kill his heavily pregnant girlfriend. Tshegofatso was 8 months pregnant when she was shot and hanged in Durban deep.
The killer Muzikayise Malephane is currently serving a 20-year sentence after he struck a plea deal with the state.
President Cyril Ramaphosa welcomed the sentencing saying “Ntuthuko Shoba’s sentence sends the strongest of messages that perpetrators of violence against women and children will face the full might of the law”. He found the life imprisonment sentence “befitting, appropriate and justice for the two innocent lives he took so cruelly”.
