Mercedes is said to be ending production on the flagship S-class line-up.
Mercedes-Benz has been having trouble selling the flagship sedan, as sales in the first quarter of 2024. Whether that’s the AMG S63 E-performance model or the Maybach S580 and S680. The S-class is not the only large models that’s having a hard time, the EQS, EQS SUV and GLS alongside their AMG and Maybach derivatives have also dropped by around 20%.

The Mercedes-Benz has always known for the top dog Mercedes-Benz model, sitting above the C-class and E-class sedans. It is the luxury sedan that still comes in a 6 litre twin turbo V12 engine, although it is only in the fancy Maybach model.

It is no surprise as the market is in high demand for the BMW 7-series, its competitor. The BMW 7-series came onto the market with incredible technology and gimmicks that won the hearts of customers despite its looks. It went on to win Car of the 2023/2024.

Since June, the sales on BMW luxury models have been increasing to approximately 11%. Despite that the demand of luxury sedans has been plummeting since the introduction of Family SUVs.

Mercedes-Benz is working on a facelift model of the S-class to be seen as early as 2025. So, is it really the end of the Pinnacle of Luxury.
