Head of Product Communications at Volkswagen, Stefan Voswinkel, recently announced on his LinkedIn profile that the Limited-Edition Golf 8 R333 was sold out in just 8 minutes. The car managed to sell out very fast despite its huge price tag of € 76 410 approximately (R 1 587 082). Making it the most expensive Golf, VW has ever sold in a lifetime.
Volkswagen announced on their website that it will only produce 333 units of the car; hence it’s labeled the Golf 8 R333. VW further mentioned on their website that interested buyers can order the car from German dealerships from Friday 2 June 2023, and the vehicles will be delivered this coming October.

The Golf R series, has been an instant success for VW ever since it was introduced back in 2002 through the golf 4, also referred to as the Mk. 4. Having the car sell out in just 8 minutes just goes to show the love many people have for the VW Golf R brand.
“It is precisely such limited and high-performance vehicles that turbocharge the Volkswagen R brand – a genuine eye-catcher and extremely attractive. Every customer can be sure that they have an extremely rare vehicle and a potential collector’s item in their garage.” Says Peter Jost, Head of Marketing & Sales, Volkswagen R.

Why did this Golf R sell out in just 8 minutes you ask? For starters, this Golf 8 R333 has a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph. Which is higher than the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato’s top speed of 260 km/h (160 mph).
Also, this Golf is powered by a small and yet powerful 2.0 TSI engine, which produces 245 kW of power and 420 Nm of to torque. It is capable of accerlerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
Another special feature added to the Golf 8 R333, is that each model will have a sequentially numbered badge in the interior, counting from 000/333. This means that each customer will get to see what number was his/her on during the production line.
VW has planned an event for the customers who purchased the Golf 8 R333, in the Autostadt, Wolfsburg (Germany) in October 2023.
