The highly anticipated Burna Boy concert which was supposed to take place at FNB Stadium this weekend has been abruptly cancelled, leading to speculation and controversy surrounding the reasons behind the decision.
The concert was initially postponed to the 16th of December, however a day later, it was announced that the show was cancelled! Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Burna Boy postponed the show just days before its scheduled date, citing unforeseen circumstances. This decision left fans disappointed and searching for answers. It’s reported that low ticket sales also played a key factor in the cancellation. Only 17 000 tickets were sold out of a possible 94 000!

Burna Boy’s management, Spaceship apologised to the fans and assured that all tickets would be refunded. “Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that despite my team’s effort, the show on September 23rd, in Johannesburg will be cancelled over the inability of the promoters to fulfil their contractual, production, financial and technical obligations,” it said.
Furthermore, it has also come to the public’s attention that the former CEO of the event company that was set to host Burna Boy is facing fraud allegations which played a significant role in the cancellation of the concert.

Organizers and ticket buyers voiced concerns about irregularities related to ticket sales and financial transactions. These claims raised doubts about the concert’s legitimacy and prompted its cancellation. IOL echoes this sentiment, citing rumours of low ticket sales and disorganized planning as contributing factors to the official cancellation.
The postponement and later cancellation of Burna Boy’s concert have generated controversy and disappointment among fans. The allegations of fraud, low ticket sales, organizational disarray, and payment issues have raised questions about the planning and execution of major events in the entertainment industry. As the situation unfolds, fans and industry insiders await further clarification and resolution.
