Congratulations are in order for South African football legend Benni McCarthy who continue to make great strides in his career.
Yesterday, Manchester United announced that McCarthy has joined the club and will serve as one of the three coaches under Coach Erik Ten Hang. The duration of his contact was not disclosed.
As per the statement released by Man United, “The ex-forward will specialize in coaching attacking plays and positioning.”
McCarthy was the head coach of AmaZulu Football Club and Cape Town City Football Club in 2020 and 2017 respectively. He won the MTN 8 Cup in 2018 with Cape Town City FC before he was dismissed in 2019.
In 2020, he finished in second position with AmaZulu in the DSTV Premiership thus qualifying for the 2021/22 CAF Champions League, he was later dismissed in March 2022.
The Cape Town born coach is a UEFA Pro Licence holder and is a former player having played for teams such as Orlando Pirates Football Club, Blackburn Rovers, Westham United, Seven Stars, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Porto and Whitehill Welfare.
We wish Coach Benni all the best and cannot wait to see what magic he’ll create.
