Former US president Donald Trump injured during assassination attempt

While in a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt that left him with a bloodied face. According to Trump, he was hit by a bullet on the ear when gun fire set him off in panic. He was rushed to his car by members of the United Sates Secret Service who surrounded him at the time of the incident.

This shooting that has left Trump pierced on his upper right ear is known to be one of the most serious attempts to assassinate a presidential candidate ever since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. Trump’scampaign representative has made a statement that he is doing fine now and that there is no need for the public to worry.

The suspected gunman who fired shots from an elevated position outside of the rally venue has been identified by the FBI to be 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who lives an hour’s drive away from where the rally was taking place, and his motives remain unknown. Crooks was quickly engaged by the Secret Service, shot, and killed at the scene. One spectator was also killed, and two others injured while shots were being fired.

While there are suspicions that some disgruntled democrats could be behind this act to alter Trump’s campaign, President Joe Biden has spoken to Trump on the phone and condemned the violence. He said, “there is no place in America for this sort of violence. It’s sick.” Biden will also be cutting short his trip to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and return to Washington to attend to pressing issues concerning the incident. 

Trump still has a responsibility to secure the Republican Party’s nomination to become their presidential candidate in the upcoming November elections. His son Eric Trump posted a photo of him pumping his fist in the air on X with the caption: “This is the fighter Americaneeds.” His daughter Ivanka Trump expressed love for her dad and gratefulness to the Secret Service. She wrote on her X account @IvankaTrump, “I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today. I continue to pray for our country, I love you Dad, today and always.”
