[DEVELOPING]: Mugabe and co-accused officially charged with attempted murder

The son of Zimbabwe’s late President Robert Mugabe and his co-accused have today been officially charged by the South African police. Last week, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe was arrested following a shooting at the home he resides in in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Police were called to the scene, after a 23 year old gardener was found with gunshot wounds. Neighbourhood security reported that this was not the first shooting to take place in the Mugabe home.

Upon arrival, police reportedly found Chatunga hiding in the house refusing to come out. The gun used in the incident is yet to be found. The South Africa police brought in sniffer dogs and divers during their search of the firearm.

Today, Chatunga Mugabe (28) and Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze (33) appeared before the Alexandra Magistrates court where they face charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice and possession of a firearm.

The pair will remain in custody, with another court appearance scheduled for 3 March.
