Just barely a week after leaving EFF, Floyd Shivambu has been given a role in the MK party as the National Organiser. He will be in charge of governance, monitoring, political education and all structures of the party. Shivambu has been praised as an honest politician by many during his days with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) political party which he co-founded and was Deputy President.

On the 22nd of August 2024, while briefing the media in Sandton, MK party announced that they were formation its decision-making body (the National High Command), to be led by eight officials and 45 additional members. The top eight officials include party president Jacob Zuma, deputy president John Hlophe, secretary-general Dr Sifiso Maseko, deputy secretary-general Nombuso Mkhize, treasurer-general Menzi Ngubane and national organiser Shivambu.

Shivambu has made it clear that he has not betrayed anyone by leaving EFF and that joining the MK party is not means for him to gain favours. He says he remains a revolutionary who is concerned about building black communities. While speaking at the MK party press conference he said, “We are not in the business of trying to please each other’s ego here. We are in the business of building a revolution that is going to emancipate the majority of the black South Africans and Africans in particular and we are unapologetic about that.”
With MK now an official opposition in parliament, Shivambu believes that a mutual relationship and a collective effort by all progressive political parties will be more meaningful in the development South Africa.
