South Africa’s Bafana Bafana have been crowned the third best soccer team in Africa after snatching the third place spot from DR Congo.

It was a rather lukewarm first half, however things took off in the second half with both teams creating scoring chances. Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams continued to be the countries saviour, making several great saves that could have set them back. Williams made two great saves in the penalty shootout to secure South Africa’s bronze medals.

Khuliso “Sailor” Mudau, arguably the best right back in Africa right now has been in incredible form this entire tournament, despite missing a chance to score against Nigeria. The Sundowns player almost single handedly stopped DRC from converting any chances.

Overall, Bafana’s performance at this AFCON has been one for the history books. This is a team that did not qualify for the last AFCON but went on to send home some of Africa’s top teams, including Morocco.

CONGRATULATIONS BAFANA BAFANA!
