South Africa’s national rugby team the Springboks went head to head with New Zealand’s All Blacks in the 2023 Rugby World Cup last night in Paris.

It was a hunt for the fourth title for both countries who were tied at three World Cup wins. South Africa won the Rugby World Cup in 1995, 2007 and 2019.

The stakes were extremely high and the tension was clearly visible on the pitch. The Springboks went to half time leading the All Blacks 12-6.
New Zealand fought back in the second half, giving South Africa a good fight for the Webb Ellis trophy.

However in the end, it was captain Siya Kolisi who would lift the Rugby World Cup trophy for the second consecutive time. He is now the only South Africa captain to win the World Cup twice back to back!

South Africa narrowly beat New Zealand 12-11. This wasn’t the first time the Boks won by just a point. The Springboks won by a point in the quarterfinals, semifinals and again in the finals.

It goes without saying that South Africa faced the toughest opponent on the road their road to the final, knocking out France and England to make the finals.
Coach Jacques and Rassie picked an experienced team for the final and it paid off.

It was also clear to see that the players were not playing for themselves as a team anymore and as Captain Siya said “we played for something far bigger than us.”

It was a thrilling final, against one of the best teams but the Springboks came out on top once again.
CONGRATULATIONS BOKKE!!!
