The veld fire in Phalaborwa Limpopo which began this previous weekend left a trail of destruction, as 12 residential properties were completely destroyed by the fire. 1 person was also reported dead soon after his property was burned down by the veld fire.
The SABC reported that the owner of the burned house Alec Osmers, lost his life in a hospital the following day after the fire incident took place. According to Anton Kellerman, whom is a Chairperson of the Phalaborwa Community Policing Forum, Alec Osmers was already suffering from a cardiac problem prior to this incident.

He therefore thinks that this particular incident might have caused Mr. Osmers more trauma and stress. Apart from the death of one person, there were no other reported injuries from this veld fire.
Investigations into the veld fire will be taking place as the real cause of the veld fire has not yet been confirmed by the relevant officials.
Amongst the properties that were burned, is Elegance Guest House, which employed about 6 employees. Their employer reportedly promised to assist them during this unfortunate situation.

The veld fire leaves the affected families to pick up the pieces of what is left of their properties.
In the meantime, some of the neighbouring guest accommodation establishments have offered to assist the affected families with shelter free of charge. Also, various organisations and people on have volunteered to help the affected families.
