Former Secretary General of the ANC Ace Magashule, launched his new political party on Wednesday 30 August 2023, in Soweto. His newly launched party is referred to as the African Congress for Transformation (ACT).
“We are a new political party, and we call ourselves a people’s party. You are going to see that we are a people’s party because we are about people and we will rise and fall on behalf of the people.”, says Ace Magashule, in his media briefing session.

According to Ace Magashule, the ideology behind his newly launched political party is to uphold African nationalism as the party’s foundation piler. Secondly, the party ‘cherishes and fosters Pan Africanism as the party’s liberating creed’. lastly, the ACT political party is guided by the spirit of African self –determination.
“There has been a bitter struggle inside the African National Congress, for its soul. There have been contradictions over the years for the hegemony of progressive ideas within the ANC.”, says Magashule.

Ace Magashule further alleged the ANC of deviating from its main purpose of serving the public.
The former Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Ace Magashule was previously expelled from his position in the ANC, by the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC).
Magashule’s expulsion comes after he failed to meet the NDC’s seven days deadline, where he was required to explain to the NDC why he should not be expelled, based on the NDC’s findings regarding his several violations of the ANC Constitution.
After his expulsion from the ANC, Magashule resumes his political career through his newly launched political party.
He also called on South Africans to ‘find a new political home for the homeless, the betrayed and the fatigued.’

The theme colours of Magashule’s new political party are; green, yellow, black and red. These colours sparked some controversy within the public as they resemble the ANC and the EFF political parties’ theme colours.
It is not yet confirmed if Magashule’s newly launched political party is registered with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
