BMW Australia Recalls 833 Units of the X1 Series

On Monday 14 August 2023, BMW Australia recalled 833 units of the X1 model range. The reason for the recall is that the seatbelts of the affected units are believed to be faulty. X1 vehicles manufactured from the year 2022, are the ones affected by this recall.

“The outer seat belts in the second row may become jammed at the bottom of the trim panels. As a result, the seat belts may not operate as intended.”, says BMW Australia in their recall statement.

BMW Australia further mentioned that the dangerous aspect about the faulty seatbelts systems in the affected units, is that vehicle occupants may not receive full protection from the faulty seatbelts systems, in the case of a car accident.

According to BMW Australia, faulty seatbelts increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants.

This is why BMW Australia recognised the importance ofrecalling the affected unites.

BMW Australia therefore calls on its 2022 BMW X1 owners with affected vehicles, to contact their preferred authorised BMW dealerships, or BMW Australia, so that the faulty seatbelts systems on their vehicles can be repaired, free of charge.
