South African media personality Azania Mosaka will be joining one of the biggest South African radio stations, KAYA FM, this after the dismissal of former host Dineo Ranaka.
Azania will be joining the stations new Afternoon Drive show that was temporarily hosted by Sizwe Dlomo. Dlomo has been moved to the breakfast slot which was also co – hosted by Dineo Ranaka and Solomzi Phenduka.
Dineo Ranaka was fired from KAYA FM after she took to social media to share pictures of her trip to New York amidst her battle with mental health issues.
Marketing director of KAYA FM, Collen Louw stated the reasons why Dineo Ranaka was fired, revealing that Ranaka did not take her employer into consideration regarding her mental health challenges, but instead took to social media first to announce that she was facing suicidal thoughts.
He said Ranaka has been off air since May 22 when she did not appear for her show, and the station was subsequently alerted about her public outcry on social media where she stated she was depressed and was fighting suicidal thoughts.
Louw continued to state that the radio station repeatedly tried to reach out to Dineo Ranaka in a bid to find out if she was getting from her illness.
Dineo Ranaka took to social media and said “so I just got fired from kaya fm, interesting season of my life, so… what’s next Dineo?” she then begged people not to feel sorry for her.
The likes of Somizi, her sister Manaka Ranaka and her fans shared some comforting words in her comment section.
