Hilux Becomes SA’s Best Selling Bakkie!

Motoring company Toyota has shown great flexibility in the market by leading the market share at 26,4% having the Hilux as the best seller, even in these tough times of petrol and interest rate hikes.

This follows after Toyota as well as its affiliated brands selling a total of 11,395 units of new vehicles in the month of May and a total sum of 43,060 units to date.

The timeless Toyota Hilux became the most sold taking the sales to 2,798 units topping not only the best-selling bakkies but also the leader board of vehicle sales. Second on board is the Toyota Corolla Cross that leads the passenger segment. The Corolla Cross made an impressive sale performance by selling 1,644 units in total. The legendary Hiace made its impression too by 1,487 and the Land Cruiser by 371.

Toyota Hilux has seen more growth because of the popular demand by South Africans. Never mind that it tops the list of the most hijacked bakkies in South Africa, as the Fidelity ADT stated. Hilux still remains a stylish as well as a powerful bakkie that is well loved and in high demand.

The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa monthly figures have shown that the Ford Ranger took the best seller in the month of April by selling 2,201 units, however it did not take Hilux too long to put perform the Ranger.

“Toyota’s success is not coincidental; it’s thanks to the quality of our vehicles, the commitment of our staff and dealers, as well as the loyalty of our customers.”– said the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Leon Theron.
